From our founding in 1965, The Jug Shop has been a San Francisco destination for a comprehensive selection of wine, beer, and distilled spirits. Family owned and operated, our philosophy combines dependable, personal service with knowledgeable and friendly staff. Whether you need help planning an event or selecting the right gift, we provide individual attention to meet your needs. If you don’t find what you’re looking for, please tell us! We’ll track it down to the best of our ability.
We Think Before You Drink:
We know shopping for wine can be an intimidating experience. That’s why we aim to help our customers learn about their own palates, ensuring they leave with a bottle that will make them happy, rather than what anyone else says they should drink.
We Try Before We Buy:
Unlike some stores, our wine buyers never make buying decisions based on points or reviews. With over 2000 selections in stock, our personal experience allows us to communicate what our customers need to know about a wine in order to decide if it’s right for them.
We Kick The Dirt:
Our wine staff offers a diverse range of experience and expertise. We travel frequently to learn more about our individual wine passions and bring that experience back to our customers. Our personal relationships with wineries and winemakers allow us access to unique items not available to the broader market.
We Do ‘Down Under’ Better Than Anyone:
While our vast, in-store selection encompasses nearly every corner of the world, we have developed a national and international reputation for the wines of Australia and New Zealand. Managing wine buyer Chuck Hayward has transformed the shop into a national destination for the wines of these countries, becoming the nation’s leading retail expert. For now, we’ve chosen to focus our e-store offerings on these regions but check back with us frequently as we continue to expand our on-line inventory.
