SHIPPING FAQ
HOLIDAY SHIPPING: We do our best to get orders out as quickly as possible, however we will still need time to process your order. Please see the calendar below to determine your best shipping option. If an item is temporarily out of stock and will not arrive by November 26th via the shipping method you choose, we will notify you immediately. Please note UPS does not operate on Thanksgiving Day, November 27th nor on Friday, November 28th.
Orders placed by Noon Pacific Time on or after:
November 19th & 20th: UPS 3-Day, 2nd Day or Next Day November 21st through 24th: UPS 2nd Day or Next Day November 25th: UPS Next Day Orders placed after November 25th will not arrive by Thanksgiving.

HOW LONG WILL IT TAKE FOR MY ORDER TO ARRIVE? We try to process orders within 48 hours. However, additional time may be required due to high volume or temporarily out of stock items. You will be notified via email if an item has changed vintage or is no longer available. Processing times are in addition to the shipping method you choose at checkout. If you require delivery by a specific date, please contact us immediately upon placing your order. We will help you determine the best shipping method for on-time arrival.
WHAT ARE MY SHIPPING OPTIONS? We ship via UPS Ground, 3-Day, 2nd Day Air and Next Day Air. Please note that once shipped, UPS Ground is not guaranteed to arrive by a specific date and can take up to 7 calendar days to arrive (please see exceptions for shipping within CA and to other western states below). If you require delivery by a specific date, please contact us by email immediately after placing your order. We will help you determine the best shipping method for on-time arrival. Cost for changes/upgrades to shipping choice will be charged accordingly.
CAN I PICK UP MY INTERNET ORDER IN PERSON? Yes! Although there is not an option for this built into the shopping cart you can indicate you would like to pick up your order here at the store. Please complete your order form as follows: Enter the billing address as it appears on your credit card statement. Your transaction may not be authorized without a correct billing address. Enter the store address of 1590 Pacific Avenue, San Francisco, CA 94109 as the shipping address. Shipping charges appearing on your order receipt will not be charged for orders picked up on premise.
SHOULD I WORRY ABOUT WEATHER CONDITIONS WHEN SHIPPING? Although most shipments arrive in sound condition, extreme weather can affect your shipment during transit to your destination as well as during local delivery in your destination area. Please consider national and local weather conditions prior to choosing a shipping option . Although we cannot make this decision for you, the following recommendations have proved useful. When in doubt, it is best to choose an air option rather than Ground (please see exceptions to this for shipping with CA and to western states below.) UPS gives business addresses priority over residences by delivering earlier in the day, which means less time exposed to heat or cold in the back of a delivery truck. During hot weather and severe cold, we strongly recommend sending packages by UPS 3-Day or faster and to a business address. Neither The Jug Shop nor UPS will accept liability for weather-related damage.
WHAT IF I'M NOT HOME WHEN MY ORDER IS DELIVERED? If you are not at home, UPS may determine a secure location (e.g. front or rear porch) to leave your package. During extreme weather, this could cause damage to your wines for which neither UPS nor The Jug Shop will accept liability. Shipping to a business address is strongly suggested whenever possible.
3-DAY SHIPPING WITHIN CA AND TO WESTERN STATES Although you can choose this option at checkout, there is no UPS 3-Day shipping option within the state of California. Additionally, between CA and SOME zip codes in other western states (including Oregon, parts of Washington, parts of Nevada, and parts of Arizona) there is also not a 3-Day shipping option as Ground packages to many destinations in these states are delivered within 2 business days. If you have a question about shipping times to your destination zip code, please contact us by email. Otherwise, your shipping option will be automatically changed to UPS Ground when there is not a 3-Day option. If you desire an air transfer of your package, please choose UPS 2nd Day or Next Day.
SHIPPING COSTS At this time, your UPS total includes real-time cost of shipping as well as the cost of shipping materials. However, if your order includes both magnums and 750ml bottles, the shipping calculator will return a lower than actual cost. In the case of any discrepancy between the checkout-generated shipping total and the actual amount, you will receive an email with the corrected total. Our apologies for this inconvenience.
For orders shipping to CA residents, additional sales tax of 8.5% will apply to the cost of shipping materials. For the vast majority of orders, this amount will be negligible (e.g. 0.81 cents per 12pk). You will not be notified of the increased tax amount, however if you would like to view the cost of shipping materials already included in your UPS total see below.
SHIPPING DISCLAIMER Please note that we make every effort to process orders within 48 hours of receipt. Currently, orders are processed for shipping on Mondays, Tuesdays, and Thursdays. Exceptions may be made when a holiday falls during the week or as order volume dictates. Orders received on these days may not automatically ship the same day. For all orders, shipping timeframes depend on product availability and inventory at the time the order is placed. Customers will be notified by email if a shipping delay of more than 3 business days is expected.

The following conditions relate to the shipping of goods by The Jug Shop. By requesting shipment of any merchandise the purchaser agrees to all of the following conditions:
The Jug Shop makes absolutely no suggestions or intimates the right of any person to import alcoholic beverages across state or international boundaries. We ship as purchaser's agent on behalf of the purchaser and title passes to the purchaser in CA. It is up to the purchaser to determine whether they may lawfully ship or import wine to their state of residence.
The Jug Shop is not liable for loss, damage, confiscation or Acts of God that occur during transit. Because weather conditions can change drastically at any time, we also assume no liability for damage caused by changes in weather during transportation. "Acts of God" include catastrophes such as, but not limited to: plane crashes, unforeseeable delays or accidents, destruction due to domestic and international unrest (i.e. riots, war, public enemies) confiscation, quarantine or natural disaster. If you wish to ship merchandise other than as advised by The Jug Shop, you do so at your own risk and may be asked to complete a Release of Liability.
Orders will not be shipped until payment has cleared.
Shipping available to U.S. addresses only. A business address is preferable.
Buyer represents that they are at least 21 years of age.
Buyer may choose any shipping option, however it is recommended that UPS Ground be avoided during extreme weather. Additionally, UPS Ground can take 7 days to arrive over long-distances (e.g. to the East Coast). We recommend a faster shipping option to those destinations.
Wine is shipped in styrofoam shippers at buyer's expense. These costs are included in your UPS total at checkout. Orders falling between sizes will be shipped in the next largest container.

SHIPMENTS OF DISTILLED SPIRITS
The Jug Shop does not ship liquor to the following states:
Alabama, Arkansas, Delaware, Florida, Georgia, Indiana, Kentucky, Maine, Maryland, Massachusetts, Michigan, Nevada, New Hampshire, North Carolina, Ohio, South Carolina, Utah, Virginia, Washington.
No shipments to APO, FPO, PO Box or international addresses will be accepted. If you have any questions regarding this policy please feel free to call.
No shipments will be made to anyone under the age of 21. New customer identification will be verified by fax (415-885-6612), email (info@jugshop.com) or mail before any shipment will be made.
Prices are subject to change without notice. Please call if you wish to confirm any prices. If an order contains a product with a listed price that differs from price quoted on our website an email or phone call will be made to verify adjustment.
